Definition: Dharma is a Sanskrit word and concept with different meanings in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
  1. Hinduism (also known as sanatana dharma): Dharma is law that tells individuals how to behave and is one of the 4 ends of life. Dharma varies with caste.
  2. Buddhism: Dharma is a truth for everyone and one of the 3 jewels (Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha 'community').
  3. Jainism: Dharma is a moral virtue and an eternal substance.
