Ladin (Rhaeto-Romance) Language
Ladin developed from the Latin of the conquerors and the native language spoken by the Rhaetians. In four centuries the language spread from the Alps to the Adriatic. The Alemanni and Bavarians broke up the speakers of Ladin into small isolated pockets in the sixth century.
