Following the eviction of the last king of Rome, the Etruscans attacked Rome under the leadership of Lars Porsena. Porsena was favorably impressed with Roman bravery by a Gaius Mucius who earned the name Scaevola (Left-handed) by sticking his hand right hand into a flame.
