Timelines - Medes
The history of the Medes is not well known but was traditionally -- at least according to Herodotus -- founded in about 700 by Deioces, who was succeeded in about 647 by his son Phraortes, and he, by his son Cyaxares in 625. While Cyaxares' son Astyages (585-550) was king of the Medes, Media was conquered by the Persians.
