Quaestors

Definition: Quaestors were Roman magistrates elected annually by the comitia tributa. Quaestors were financial and administrative officials in charge of the treasury. Quaestors served as paymasters in the military. The rank of quaestor was part of the cursus honorum and was a necessary preliminary position for senators.
