Athena and Poseidon


The 6th century Athenian potter/painter Amasis labeled the gods Athena and Poseidon. The inscription down the middle reads AMASIS MEPOIESEN ("Amasis made me").

Athena and Poseidon vied for patronage of the city of Athens. Athena won. Poseidon was also worshiped in Athens.
