Latin Prepositions That Take the Accusative Case

The following Latin prepositions may be used with the accusative case.
    Note: Some of these prepositions may also be used with the ablative case, but the meaning may be slightly different. Some of these prepositions can also be used as adverbs.

The letters s and d are sometimes added to the ends of Latin prepositions

  • advorsus, advorsum -towards
  • ante -before
  • apud -near
  • circā, -round
  • circiter -about
  • cis -on the side of
  • citrā -on this side of
  • infra -below
  • intrā -within
  • inter -between
  • juxta near
  • ob -towards
  • penes -in the hands of
  • per -through
  • post -after
  • prope -near
  • propius -nearer
  • proxumē -nearest
  • praeter -beside
  • secundum following
  • suprā -above
  • trans -across
  • (uls) -beyond
  • ultrā -beyond
