The Hero Cadmus

A Phoenician Prince, Cadmus was the founder of Thebes

Cadmus was another of the early heroes. He was the founder of the city of Thebes and credited with bringing the alphabet to Greece.

Cadmus was losing his men to the dragon, so he killed it but it was the dragon or serpent of Ares, and Cadmus suffered as a result. First, however, he sowed the dragon's teeth. They grew quickly into warriors who fought each other down to the final five who helped Cadmus settle Thebes.
