Tiber River

The Tiber River is one of longest rivers in Italy. It is 252 miles long and varies between 7 and 20 feet deep.

The Tiber River features prominently in Roman history. The legendary wolf found the twins Romulus and Remus in the Tiber. Horatius Cocles famou fight on the Pons Sublicius was over the Tiber River. Since Rome was inland, the Tiber River was the "road" on which goods traveled to and from the city and the sea.
