Septimius Severus marched on Rome as the avenger of Pertinax. Julianus tried to stave him off. He made the Senate declare Severus a public enemy, but that status did not last. The Senate deposed Julianus and proclaimed Septimius Severus emperor in 193. Didius Julianus was killed in shorter time than Pertinax -- after only 66 days as emperor.
