Definition:
Tell-El-Amarna or Tel El Amarna is an invented, modern name for Akhetaten, the Egyptian capital city of Pharaoh Akhenaten, that is composed of parts of the names of nearby villages. It is not actually a mound. It is the place where the so-called heretic king, Akhenaten, set up his residence, instead of at Luxor (Thebes).
