Thebes

Thebes was an important area of ancient Greece separating Boeotia from Attica that vied for power with the other major Greek poleis and has a rich mythological history.

The Theban Stories
The Theban Cycle may be more narrowly focused, but in Greek Mythology, especially as shown in Greek tragedy, these are the three focal points to the stories about Thebes.

Thebes
Thebes was a Boeotian city in Greece, founded, in legend by Cadmus. It was home to several of the extraordinary characters of Greek tragedy.

Pelopidas - Theban General Pelopidas
When the oligarchical party in Thebes invited in a Spartan force, which took the Cadmea, Pelopidas fled into exile.
