One of the calendars used by the Maya and adopted by the Aztec is really two calendars, the Haab and the Tzolkin combined together like cogwheels.

Tonatiuh

Aztecs believed that there had been four ages each with its own sun. As each age died, so did its sun. The present age is the fifth and Tonatiuh is the fifth sun who supports the universe and who must be nourished by human sacrifices.
