- Patroclus - loyal friend and companion of Achilles in the Trojan War. The son of Menoetius.
- Euphorbus - son of Panthous. A Trojan hero who wounds Patroclus.
- Mentes - chief of the Cicons. Apollo disguises himself as Mentes to talk with Hector.
- Athena - favors the Greeks. Also known by the Romans as Minerva.
- Ares - war god.
- Apollo - god of many attributes. Favors the Trojans.
- Glaucus - son of Hipplolochus son of Bellerophon, a Trojan.
- Sarpedon - king of Lycia, son of Zeus.
- Idomeneus - leader of the contingent from Crete on the Greek side of the Trojan War.
- Meriones - son of Molus, a Cretan and the charioteer of Idomeneus.
- Zeus - king of the gods. Zeus attempts neutrality, although in this book he seems to keep switching sides.
- Phorcys - a Phrygian killed by Ajax; son of Telamon.
- Hippothous - leader of the Pelasgians.
- Thrasymedes - a son of Nestor.
- Antilochus - a son of Nestor.
- Aeneas - Trojan prince; the son of Aphrodite.
- Phoenix - like a father to Achilles.
- Automedon - charioteer of Achilles.
- Ajax - the son of Telamon; this Ajax is the one most people refer to when talking about Ajax.
- Ajax - the son of Oileus. Is usually beside the other Ajax.
- Hector - champion of the Trojans and son of Priam.
- Achilles - best warrior and most heroic of the Greeks, although he is still sitting out the war.
