In Nero's rotating banquet hall unveiled in Rome,
Yahoo News reports on the archaeological discovery of what may have been Roman Emperor Nero's notorious revolving dining room at his golden palace. The room may have revolved day and night along with the sky, with sliding ceiling panels through which flowers and perfumes could be showered on the dining guests.

Its funny but I always assumed the rotating dining room was the large octagonal room in the Esquiline wing of the Domus Aurea. Not til I read some of the accompaning articles did I realize the rotating dining room is believed to have been on the Palatine!

I will have to rewrite my current novel to reflect this new discovery.

I don’t know what the story is and the news article I linked to in that 11 month-old blog post is already dead, but here’s another: http://eternallycool.net/2009/09/new-discovery-at-the-domus-aurea/
