This week, in Myth Monday: Achilles and His Heel, I included a picture of the hero holding a fallen amazon. There was no sign that a breast had been removed. Such a depiction is not unusual. The idea that the removal of a breast was at the origin of the word amazon has a long tradition, however. Do you know which of these men describes the cauterization? Extra credit for knowing where.
