Medusa

Friday March 23, 2007
MedusaMedusa (Medousa) is a creature from Greek mythology about whom different stories are told. In some, she is one of the 3 sometimes flying Gorgon sisters, named by Hesiod as Sthenno, Euryale, and Medusa, and the only one of whom is mortal. They live beyond the world ocean in the Hesperides to the west or to the east. Sometimes Medusa is depicted as hideous -- so hideous, in fact, that a single look at her will lithify -- turn a man to stone. Sometimes she is depicted as lovely enough to attract the interest of one of the sea gods.
